Century Yuasa Batteries is proud to continue its support for the Million Meters streams project. Million Metres stream projects is a non-profit project set up to restore the health of New Zealand waterways. Currently:
- 44% of New Zealand’s monitored lakes are so polluted virtually nothing can survive in them;
- 62% of lowland rivers are so polluted with pathogens its unsafe to swim in them;
- 74% of freshwater fish species are now classified as ‘threatened’.
Century Yuasa’s partnership has been going for over 4 year with Century contributing to 10747 trees planted over 2098 metres. We are a proud supporter of this initiative as we look to help keep the sustainability of New Zealand’s environment.
In 2020 Century Yuasa is supporting two conservation projects: The MAGS Farm Sustainable Education Project and the Waima Waitai Waiora Restoring the Wairoa Rover and its Tributaries.
The MAGS Farm Sustainable Education Project, Mount Albert
This stream is the backbone of the farm, providing an education resource and habitat for native flora and fauna. The farm has been used to help educate the urban communities since 1932 and provides them with the knowledge and education of both agriculture and horticulture practices. They have made a start, but needed further support as the stream has been neglected for many years. For more information on this project head to:

CYB’s contribution has completed the fundraising for The MAGS Farm Sustainable Education Project and they can now start the restoration that is required.
Waimā Waitai Waiora Restoring the Wairoa River and its tributaries, Northland
This is a large catchment scale project of 382,000 hectares which aims to reduce sediment entering NZ biggest harbour – the Kaipara Harbour. This fundraising project aims to restore 10,000 metres of waterway in the Kaipara catchment. They have made a start, but need support to prepare the sites for planting, the planting itself and maintaining the plantings over time to ensure the trees survive.
